Max Minghella Boards DC’s R-Rated Horror ‘Clayface’ Hitting Theaters in 2026
Max Minghella is set to enter in the upcoming horror film, Clayface of DC Studios. The deal is in the final negotiation to cast him, the film is directed by James Watkins. The film has a style similar to the1986 film of David Cronenberg’s, The Fly and based on the Batman villain who altered his appearances. Hollywood Reporter reports that Minghella is best known for his acting as disguised and nominated for an Emmy will be joining the cast in Clayface which is set to release in the UK this fall.
Cast and Character of the Film
According to the Deadline, DC Studios is again set to start a new film shoot in Warner Bros Leavesden studio in the UK after Wonder Woman. The film stars Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie as a lead that faces off the villain of Batman, Clayface. A well-known comic role appeared in video games, and animated series which is now going to play on the big screen.
The film is penned by Mike Flanagan along with the Wings of a Dove and Drive writer Hossein Amini. It also states that the film budget is about $40 Million which is worth for this action-horror theme.
Minghella has played a role in a famous Hulu series — The Handmaid’s Tale and has also directed the Teen Spirit and is now heading towards being a part of this film.

The Twisted Plot and Theme of DC’s Clayface
According to the ComicBook, DC’s new horror movie, Clayface, follows a similar horror theme of The Fly which has a creepy, physical transformation. The plot focuses on Tom Rhys Harries, injured face which needed treatment. He goes for the help from the fringe scientist (Naomi Ackie), but the twist here changes everything, the unnatural recovery of treatment leads to a disturbing and unsettled transformation, turning him into Clayface. The scientist is romantically involved with Gotham City Detective Max Mighella making the story more interesting.
The interesting twist between the characters is expected to be unveiling the plot of the film which is going to mark the film’s horrifying scenes which becomes a thrilling adventure for the audience. The storyline is still not revealed by the official news DC Studios.
ScreenRant has reported that Clayface will be an R-rated Batman-themed horror movie which joins DC Universe’s “Gods and Monsters” chapter. James Watkins came up with an iconic Batman Villain Clayface debut live-action film which will be one of his several projects in DC studios’ series.
